The Green Wolf

Be aware that this Tumblr frequently includes pictures of art made with animal remains, as well as rampant feminist opinions, corgis and bats, and lush landscapes.

Artist, author, (neo)shaman, and wannabe polymath living in the Pacific Northwe(s)t.

I discovered neopaganism in the mid-1990s, and shortly thereafter began my work with animal totems and neoshamanism. Over the years I've wandered through various paths, ranging from Wicca-flavored neopaganism to Chaos magic, but for the past few years I've been creating Therioshamanism, a post-industrial neo-shamanic path. I've also been creating various neopagan ritual tools and other sacred art from hides, bones, beads and other such things since about the same time. And I've written several nonfiction books on totemism, animal magic, and related topics. Currently working on "New Paths to Plant and Fungus Totems".

A few places to find me, as I'm all over the internet:

Ask me anything

I’ve noticed there seems to be two main camps among the otherkin. The first camp is the folks who feel that this philosophy describes their inner life and feelings about themselves spiritually more strongly than any other philosophy they have found so far. The second camp seems to be made up primarily of people who either can’t or won’t ground themselves in the real world, and who grasp any passing bizarre philosophy to explain it to themselves externally rather than do the hard work internally to get to the root of that problem.

Problems arise when the people in the second camp postulate an idea or theory and the people in the first camp call it into question. Rather than present a rational discussion they start whining and crying about how persecuted they are, or they throw screaming hissyfits or otherwise generally make themselves so entirely unpleasant that the people in the first camp just throw their hands up in disgust and drop it. And over time, a whole unspoken set of rules evolves about what is and is not considered acceptable subject for discussion in that forum, until the only thing that happens is that the second camp is happily nattering away about being genetically draconic, or the time the space aliens came and took them to Barker’s Pleasure Planet and laid them out on the table and licked them, or some damn thing while the first camp gets aggravated and bored with the Romper Room mentality and goes elsewhere.
