The Green Wolf

Be aware that this Tumblr frequently includes pictures of art made with animal remains, as well as rampant feminist opinions, corgis and bats, and lush landscapes.

Artist, author, (neo)shaman, and wannabe polymath living in the Pacific Northwe(s)t.

I discovered neopaganism in the mid-1990s, and shortly thereafter began my work with animal totems and neoshamanism. Over the years I've wandered through various paths, ranging from Wicca-flavored neopaganism to Chaos magic, but for the past few years I've been creating Therioshamanism, a post-industrial neo-shamanic path. I've also been creating various neopagan ritual tools and other sacred art from hides, bones, beads and other such things since about the same time. And I've written several nonfiction books on totemism, animal magic, Otherkin, and related topics.

A few places to find me, as I'm all over the internet:

Ask me anything

Not dead, just still on the road

So the trip to PantheaCon ended up segueing into a nice, leisurely vacation up the Pacific coastline. We’ve been taking our sweet time getting back to Portland, which has been marvelous! I haven’t had a proper, no strings attached, no work involved vacation in gods know how long. Sure, PCon had some work involved and a lot of socializing, but the trip back has been nothing but exploration and sightseeing and, well, being something of a tourist. This never happens, because almost every trip (other than day hikes) I’ve made in the past few years has been business-related somehow—yes, even vending outdoor festivals is a LOT of work.

So in the interest of self-care and avoiding burnout, and because we’ve both been busting our asses for months now, my partner and I decided to just take our time getting back home. I have never seen the California coast, or redwoods (other than isolated 100 year old specimens in Portland), or any of the Bay Area outside of the San Jose Doubletree hotel. So the past few days have been spent in state and national forests, and little roadside towns, and winding country backroads.

We’ll be home sometime this weekend, and the first order of business (no pun intended) will be to get all pending Etsy orders shipped out posthaste, and then get the rest of the FaerieCon leftovers listed for sale. But I really do appreciate everyone’s patience; this has been an immensely healing and rejuvenating trip for me at a time when I’ve been incredibly stressed and exhausted, and I’m coming home feeling much more ready to take on the challenges I left behind for just a little while.
