As much as I can see where the original poster was going with returning them back to the Earth when you are done with them, I have to agree with Lupa on this one. Coming from a country where mining is a big issue especially with our abundant natural resources the government and foreign countries, miners, want to exploit for of course profit and the economy, especially in a 3rd world country where people always tell and ask why don’t we use our abundant natural resources to help improve the economy, I absolutely disagree on mining and am highly, highly, against it. For one it’s damaging for the environment, the people living in those environments are at risk of natural disasters that are caused by mining such as landslides, and the creature’s and plants where mining is taking place. Mining also affects indigenous tribes from various countries from South America to South East Asia. They are the ones who are the most effected. Again I know where the original poster was going with their statement and I can see how they were being well meaningful, but it’s not really helping the issue with mining which in overall is effecting the environment and people so much more and is a huge, and I mean huge problem.Oneday I will return my crystals to the rich earth and the rivers. We must start feeling our crystals with our hearts in order to communicate. Before I take a crystal from the earth that I’ve found, I’ll hold it in my palm and ask for permission. Usually I get a yes, but sometimes I get a no and I’m willing to accept my answer. The Earth’s energy is changing, Mother Earth is transforming just as we are, and there are certain crystals that desire to return to the natural earth so that they can energize and coexist with Gaia. You can feel when it is time for your beloved crystals to return, you will feel that they have served their purpose in your life and that it is time to part.
Crystals, when buried in the earth amplify the love and light sent out by all beings, and when placed in a river or ocean, are able to absorb and cleanse the energies the water has collected from far away. The energy from a crystal exists and heals on many different dimensions and levels of consciousness at once, so even if it’s small it’s still contributing significantly.
I’ve started releasing my crystals from my possesion and placing them back into the earth. I buried one on top of a mountain I climbed and I’ve put a few in rivers and streams. It is a satisfying feeling, knowing that you are returning something you’ve payed money for so that it can magnify the increasing light on Mother Earth.
We are all attracted to these beautiful stones, we want their healing energies and their beautiful colours. This attraction is an ancient memory encoded deep within our souls, but we have forgotten to really respect the consciousness of the crystal kingdom. As the Earths vibrations increase, more and more people will start returning crystals to the Earth. It is within the nature of spirit to give, to help, to selflessly serve, just as it is the nature of the crystal to do the same for us.
[Please don’t remove this text. The purpose of my photo is to share a message.]That’s really ineffective if you want to be environmentally-friendly. Putting a crystal from a strip mine in South America isn’t going to do a damned bit of good if you stick it in your back yard in New Jersey—or even if you take it back to that mine. The damage is already done. The ground has been torn apart, chemicals for mining have been released into the water and air and soil, and your purchase of a brand new crystal however many years ago for some “spiritual” activity was a direct contributor.
You want to ACTUALLY help? Give or sell your crystals to people who are still wanting to buy crystals. Reduce the demand for new crystals, especially those that have been mined in harmful manners. Cleanse them beforehand if you wish, but if you just toss your crystals into the bushes somewhere, they’re not actually doing any measurable level of good there. Recycling and reusing them and repurposing them, on the other hand, actually makes a difference. Even if you didn’t buy strip-mined crystals, by providing others with the ones you no longer use, you can keep THEM from buying strip-mined crystals.
~ Adrenia
Well, your point is valid, but I don’t like that because your point is valid mine becomes invalid. Mining is a terrible problem, I know. That’s why I haven’t bought a crystal in years. When I was little I’d buy them from small town annual markets for 3 dollars each, all pre-loved and pre-used by people who realised they were finished with them. Or I’d find them while I gardened with Mum, and that’s why I have these. I am aware of the demand for crystals and the greed in the world, but to be honest, If I went about selling my crystals trying to reduce the demand, they’d be all gone in a day. I don’t have many, and I give and receive crystals all the time from kind friends and family. When I say it’s satisfying to return something I’ve paid money for, I am talking about the benefits of placing the Earth before money, knowing that it doesn’t matter if your payed money for it or not.
So regarding your opening statement “That’s really ineffective if you want to be environmentally-friendly” followed by assumptions that they were brand-new, I thank you, for trying to educate another, even if it was in a rude and sarcastic manner. But I also have to disagree and say that I am environmentally friendly with my crystals and how I get them, and yes returning them is still effective, maybe not in your perception and reality but definitely in mine and many others who have taught me about Earth energies.
One more thing, your perception of how things contribute and help is not the be-all-and-end-all of correct opinions. “but if you just toss your crystals into the bushes somewhere, they’re not actually doing any measurable level of good there.” If everybody returned one or two it sure would. It’s the same concept as trying to get people to buy second hand. It’s not going to do much if just you do it, so you’re trying to get the message across to everybody. This statement may be true in your reality and I’ll accept that as your personal belief. But you and I lack the birds eye view of spirit. This message, of returning crystals to the earth, did not originate in my mind, it is a message from spirit through a psychic channeler. If you want to pass it off as unimportant and damaging, fine. But I’m not, and I want to send the message to others who will appreciate it.

I don’t care if you think I’m a wacko, but I care If you have misinterpreted my awareness of global cause and effect and the damage of buying strip mined crystals.
Peace
I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, and to all measurable perceptions, that recycling crystals reduces the demand for crystals, by counting the number of people who would have bought new crystals but instead took the ones that were given away or sold by others who didn’t need them. There is absolutely no empirical way to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, and to all measurable perceptions, that tossing crystals into various places has any actual, verifiable effect on those places or on the Earth as a whole, or that “wrapping the Earth in a cloak of healing energy” has any effect on environmental devastation, child mortality rates in developing countries, or domestic violence. A crystal will not suck up pollutants, nor will it stop malaria. At the most, putting a crystal in a place special to you will give you a boost of good feelings and connection, which can be a very positive thing to one individual and the people they interact with because they feel better, but I am unconvinced that having everybody seed the world with crystals would have any effect other than a temporary morale boost.
Now what you DO with that morale boost can move mountains.
